Brand Identity
Island Quest
Project: New Brand Design
Scope: Logo, Printed Materials, Brand Visual Assets
Skills Demonstrated: Illustration, branding
Details: As an organizer of several summer/after-school programs and camps, Commonpoint Queens knows what they’re doing when it comes to creating fun learning environments for kids. While Advantages had the privilege of designing logos for several of their programs, Island Quest was by far the most ambitious project. A consortium of multiple camps coming together to create one exciting new Day Camp on the “island” of Queens, New York—this birth of a new camp required an extensive Purpose Discovery to align the entire team, a meaningful name, and a colorful new brand.
Design: This logo project saw the most sketches, designs, color palettes, and font variations that a logo project has ever seen! In my entire design career, a logo has never been so scrutinized and picked at (with love, care, and purpose) as the Island Quest logo. While I worked alongside other talented designers on our team in presenting concepts, not only did I have the privilege of leading the process but my own logo was chosen as the final design. In the end, Island Quest came away with a colorful and fun logo that related to kids of all ages and spoke to the true purpose of Island Quest—finding your own way!
Heavily inspired by the style of the logo, the developing brand consisted of creating lots of fun illustrations depicting adventure using vibrant colors and gradients. I illustrated custom icons for the 3 main camp “styles”: Seek, Innovate, and Compete, as well as other complimentary graphics for their website’s landing page, postcard, t-shirts, and other marketing materials.
